It can be challenging to keep white attire fresh-looking. But while it’s tempting to choose bleach to brighten your whites here’s a safer way to whiten: mix about a ½-1 cup of borax per laundry load.

Not convinced? If you must use bleach, must choose a chlorine-free one like this Seventh Generation brand.

Good green tip. Laundry can potentially be so damaging to the environment…in addition to chlorine, ammonia is another terribly toxic chemical in cleaning products. I’m gonna try the borax and hope it works!

It’s true. My mom even used to have a thing that looked like a downey ball, but that you used with borax. She didn’t use laundry detergent at all! And the clothes stayed super fresh and clean!
