You feel good about carrying reusable bags, drinking out of your SIGG and cleaning with homemade eco-friendly products . Making sustainable, smart choices in your daily habits can go a long way.
What about less frequently marketed ‘green’ products? Here’s two daily items you may not have considered – yet :
1. Toothpaste
The product you (hopefully) start and end each day with. Most commercial toothpaste brands are made with fluoride – an ingredient that sounds innocent enough. It prevents teeth decay and keeps your smile and gums fresh. Here’s the but… studies indicate that fluoride levels in water are getting too high.
Interest groups say fluoride is unnecessary and encourage natural toothpastes. Here’s one to try:

2. Deodorant

Aluminum is linked to diseases like cancer (particularly breast cancer) and Alzheimer’s disease. The good news is there are an increasing number of natural alternatives on the market.
Ok, so you understand the red flags of some mainstream brands. But, will natural deodorant really keep you dry and fresh? I tested out Aubrey Organic brand: E Plus High C Roll On and was pleasantly surprised – it even kept me dry post-workout.

Yes, you can find this deodorant at various grocery stores around Philly – I’ve seen it in Whole foods and drug stores/Target, etc. Also, you can recycle the used container after at Whole Foods for the “Gimme 5″ program (and razors too!). Thank you WholeFoods – We don’t have to worry about throwing out #5 plastic anymore!
