Gasland Part II will make its World Premier at the famous Tribeca Film Festival in NYC on April 21st.
The much-anticipated sequel to the ground-breaking and controversial Gasland will likely frame more heated debates from both fracking supporters and adversaries.
Pennsylvania was and is among the states where fracking is a major concern. Gasland and Gasland Part II filmaker Josh Fox has said that 60-65% of PA land is being turned over to gas companies for exploration and drilling.
Avoiding more of those climate change movies because you already recycle and bring your own coffee cup to Wawa? Sick of those eco propaganda “art forms” guilting you for how much “we” Americans waste each year? Good news: Chasing Ice is a different type of Climate Change movie. It never talks about what you’re doing wrong, what’s really in your food or what you’re not recycling.
Instead, Chasing Ice shows you the result.

We love our eco-minded celebrities. While we can’t (yet) report on Matt Damon’s personal thoughts on fracking, we can confirm that he’s starring in a new film on fracking this December.
The film is said to center around Damon, whose character initially works for a pro-fracking company and eventually wises up and gets a soul… i.e. he becomes the anti-fracking hero. As a refresher, fracking is essentially the procedure of creating fractures in rock, and rock formations by injecting fluid into the ground at high pressure to break the rocks open and release natural gas inside.
Why is fracking dangerous?
When I first heard about the Hunger Games, I had my doubts. But when my ‘too cool for YA” BFF demanded that I read the series, I reconsidered.
Although the book doesn’t state the exact event, major landmasses shifted and the sea level rose to unknown heights to change the Earth’s landscape we know it which develops Panem into its current state. Does Collins use any of the Hunger Games themes or district circumstances to address our current environmental issues? Let’s explore further, after the jump.
“PA has to change its story. PA is in the process of being destroyed NOW.”
–Filmmaker Josh Fox
“Fracking” has been thrown around as a foreign term for natural gas mining. Definition: Short for hydraulic fracturing, “fracking” refers to the procedure of creating fractures in rocks and rock formations by injecting fluid into cracks to force them further open. The larger fissures allow more oil and gas to flow out of the formation and into the wellbore, from where it can be extracted.
I attended a Gasland Screening last week at Franklin Commons. Although I had read about fracking prior, I didn’t know too much about the process. Luckily, the event organizer arranged two special guests to address the issue: PA Senator Andy Dinniman & Filmmaker of Gasland Josh Fox.
Senator Andy Dinniman started off the session, (find out more, after the jump!)
Hey fatty – we have a problem. No, not you, all of America. Americans spend trillions on healthcare each year. 2/3 of us are overweight and 50% of us take prescription drugs. Cases of diabetes are exploding, and heart disease, cancer and stroke are the three leading causes of death in the US. Can you dream of a health plan that could save you money and actually REVERSE conditions you may have?

Excited for Sunday’s Academy Awards & green Documentaries yet?
I always love checking out the celebs that aren’t shy with their ambitions. Here’s a few noteworthy starlettes that will be making an appearance on Sunday:
With Hollywood’s biggest night fast-approaching Sunday, it’s time to sneak a peek at which films have an eco-impact. During last year’s Academy Awards, the Cove‘s dolphin secret was exposed during their Best Documentary win. (During the speech, the filmmakers caused a stir by their activist message.)
Here are the green-themed movies (and clips!) up for nods on Sunday:
