Though I have fake-a-tarian status, I was craving beef stroganoff for dinner. Luckily I had some of the leftover egg noodles and Boca beef crumbles (a prop for my Sh*t Green People Say satire) and took a trip to Whole Foods. I played off the Vegetarian Casserole Queen's recipe and made my own half-assed twist.

Here's what I did:

Lately I’ve been giving thought to the zero waste home – as the family behind the concept continues to garner well-deserved press.

The Johnsons of Mill Valley, California are the zero waste family. The Johnson family’s primary goal is to avoid bringing anything into the house that must eventually be discarded.

But I do have a newfound love for vegetarian cooking. And promise to relay this recipe as I created it, errors and all.)

So I knew I officially turned old/domesticated/boring at the ripe ol' age of 28 when my parents gave me 2 casserole dishes for my birthday... And for Christmas I received (after asking for) a 9-cup, Kitchen Aid Food Processor. I was so excited to use it, I processed all 4 veggies in my house on Christmas day!

The rest of my recipe was impromptu, so feel free to experiment on your own for the veggies, cheese & portions. Enjoy!

“Fracking” has been thrown around as a foreign term for natural gas mining. Definition: Short for hydraulic fracturing, “fracking” refers to the procedure of creating fractures in rocks and rock formations by injecting fluid into cracks to force them further open. The larger fissures allow more oil and gas to flow out of the formation and into the wellbore, from where it can be extracted.

I attended a Gasland Screening last week at Franklin Commons. Although I had read about fracking prior, I didn’t know too much about the process. Luckily, the event organizer arranged two special guests to address the issue: PA Senator Andy Dinniman & Filmmaker of Gasland Josh Fox.

Senator Andy Dinniman started off the session, (find out more, after the jump!)

We had a chance to ask her a few questions about her experience. She’s a recent Temple University graduate who moved to Philly last August. Just as she was going on her second year as a city-dweller and sick of the parking scene, she heard about Zipcar. The Low Car Diet seemed like a perfect trial period to go car-less.

Now, for the questions:
