Apple Festival

Come to the Woodford Mansion Orchard for a free Community Apple Harvest Festival! There will be cider making, heirloom apple tasting, pumpkin painting, live music, children’s games, and an apple dessert contest—enter yours! Visit the bee hives and make art with professional artist Heidi Barr. Orchard and mansion tours are FREE!

In 1769 the Pennsylvania Gazette described Woodford’s orchard as “…a handsome Garden, a thriving Orchard of good Apple Trees, and other Fruit, and a Well of excellent water.” Nine years ago, the East Park Revitalization Alliance, Philadelphia Orchard Project, and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department teamed up with the Naomi Wood Trust to replant and recreate the orchard at Woodford. Woodford’s orchard today is a contemporary interpretation that is self-sustaining, environmentally responsible, and community maintained and harvested.
