Artist Reception: Daniel Cappello

Join us in welcoming reCreate Featured Artist of September Daniel Cappello! Daniel is a visual artist and designer based in Philadelphia influenced by the geometry of Islamic art and architecture and its attempt to capture grace without representation. He is interested in the way biologic and geologic forces create pattern, rhythm and form.

Daniel is committed to producing his work sustainably and responsibly. He has incorporated reclaimed paint, wood, plastic tubing, plastic sheeting, fasteners, polyurethane foam, and paper into his work, as well as uses many reclaimed tools to create the work. He says, “The reclaimed nature of the materials isn’t evident in the finished pieces, and that transformation is important to me. I expect my commitment to the sustainable production of art to deepen, not as a novelty but as a part of a contract with future generations to create art without waste.”
