Develop your knowledge of the urban forest ecosystem in this 3-part, hands-on training series. With topics including land history; invasive plant ID and removal; sustainable trail building; and tree care, you will gain an understanding of the challenges and considerations in land stewardship. Through hands-on session you’ll build the skills to conserve the urban forest, blaze sustainable trails, highlight natural features, and enhance experiences in the natural world. Put your skills to use at home, at work, or with the Schuylkill Center’s Trail Team.
This week will demonstrate ways to site and maintain trails to protect from storm damage and limit erosion, lead by. Sean Duffy, our Facilities Manager.
With completion of the full training program and three restoration workdays sessions (annually), participants become certified Trail Team Members and receive a Schuylkill Center Trail Team t-shirt. The optional Restoration Workdays listed above will specifically address topics reviewed in the classroom sessions.
