Per the research group Climate Central, Philadelphia is among 35 U.S. cities with the largest increase in average summer stagnant air days, thus increasing ozone risk. According to the American Lung Association’s 2016 “State of the Air” Report, we know that Philadelphia county already receives a grade of “F” for ozone. Smog, or ground level ozone, is a powerful lung irritant.
We will gather on the last unofficial day of summer to culminate our Summer Sprayground Series at the steps of City Hall! Bring a picnic lunch and meet us at the fountains at Dilworth Park to splash, play, and sign our poster for Mayor Kenney reminding him that “Healthy Kids Need Clean Air!” and asking him to “Please do all you can to limit pollution and protect our health.” We are excited to announce that the Mayor will be attending the event promptly at 11:30am! Please consider arriving early to grab a red Moms Clean Air Force t-shirt and add your signature!
Hope you will join us as we say goodbye to summer and start the school year off on a healthy, clean air note!
