Toad Night

April 7, 2017 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)
This is happening on the 7th and 8th at the same time.
Free

The toads are coming! See American toads up close, hear their trills, learn about toad natural history, and look for their eggs in ponds.  Join us for presentations from and discussions with Dr. Carlos Martínez Rivera, an Amphibian Conservation Specialist with the Philadelphia Zoo.  Dr.  Martínez Rivera will lend his expertise to talk about frogs, toads, and conservation issues in our region.  We’ll hike rain or shine, so bring a raincoat along to observe this unique Roxborough natural phenomenon.

Did you know the Schuylkill Center works to protect American toads through our Toad Detour program? In fact, in the years since the program began, over 10,000 toads have been helped to cross the road. Hundreds of volunteers help us close down Port Royal Avenue from 7 – 9 pm in the evenings on nights when the toads are migrating. Learn more here.
