Farmer’s Road: Farm Fresh Fast Food in Chadds Ford

    Farmer's Road Chadds Ford

Picture this: You’re taking a drive and hunger hits in in a major way. You realize you haven’t packed your organic snacks (the horror!) and you cannot wait to eat. Although your hunger must be satisfied immediately, you don’t have time for a sit-down meal. Panic sets in when you consider the limited, quick options… a plethora of greasy burgers, fries, MSG-filled fried chicken and soggy sandwiches.

This was my predicament last weekend. Traveling from the Philadelphia Airport to the West Chester suburbs with friends, destiny collided when we stumbled upon Farmer’s Road in Chadds Ford. The rustic sign advertising ‘fresh fast food” beckoned to us and we pulled right in.

    Farmer’s Road – Chadds Ford

The concept behind Farmer’s Road is to provide a fresh and healthy alternative to traditional fast food. Executive Chef Ryan is also the chef behind Lotus Farm to Table in Media. Ryan and owner Courtney Rozsas created the inspired, locally sourced Farmer’s Road menu.

Patrons have the option of hitting up the drive thru or eating inside. Our curiosity piqued, so we chose to check out the inside.

    Farmer’s Road Restaurant – Menu

The Farmer’s Road menu features grass-fed burgers, salads, tasty snacks like chips, and sweet treats such as vegan rice krispie treats. On the beverage side, selections include fresh and unique shakes like ‘Cake Batter’ and a healthy ‘Root Beer Float’. Need to quench a different thirst? Vegetable juice and a large selection of teas can satisfy anyone’s palate.

We sampled salads, sandwiches, sweet potato chips and juice. Everything tasted flavorful and fresh. The pickle bar was worth venturing inside for, and a huge perk if you’re a fan of salty, fun toppings.

Before we headed back on the road, we inquired with employees about other locations. Chadds Ford is currently the only location, but according to the woman working, they are definitely open to suggestions as Farmer’s road expands.

If drive thru dining was always this lovely, I’d probably take a lot more road trips.

Readers, have you been to the Farmer’s Road? Have you found any other ‘quick’ and healthy choices?

What a great place! I can’t wait to try it out next time I am in Chadd Ford. Thanks for sharing, Beth.

I live in the area and we were very excited when we heard that Farmers Road was opening. Sorry to say that it was a big disappointment. Just one example: The so called “all natural” cookies turned out to be packaged chocolate chip cookies (a major brand that you would find anywhere) and they contained high fructose corn syrup! Very little, if anything, is organic or healthy for that matter. This place is a lot of hype. I definitely would not recommend it. Beth, if you would have driven a few blocks up on 202 South, you would have been able to eat a quick and definitely healthier meal at the food bar in Whole Foods Market Glen Mills. And, there are
lots of organic snacks at Whole Foods.
