Green Your Mothers Day (& Mom)

Our day to honor one of the most special women in your life… your Mom… is Sunday.

Whether your Mom has sustainable practices or doesn’t know where to start, here are a few ways to get Mom greener:

• Bring some local Philadelphian flowers from a market or local nursery to your Mom’s table
• Purchase some sustainable craft supplies for your artsy Mom
• Throw in a side present of durable, Reusable bags.  MNN mentioned how some reusable bags (if inferior quality) go unused – Get Mom a cute, durable bag to help her shopping habits.
• Make Mom an organic, home-cooked meal with local produce.  Maybe even try a vegetarian or vegan fare…
• Make a home-made greeting card. No matter what your age is, Mothers always appreciate a thoughtful gift.
• or a homemade project
• Give an e-certificate. Not only do electronic gift certificates reduce the pollution involved in air-mailing a card or gift, they are also delivered instantly and offer the recipient a chance to choose something they’ll really use. (From Greenwala)
• For Moms that enjoy to kick back, bring a bottle of eco-friendly booze – say champagne or wine
• Snap-together Greenhouse, Tom’s Shoes or other suggestions from Treehugger
