Earth Day Week: Events April 20 – 23rd

Although we personally think of every day as Earth Day, Philly’s got lots of awesome events for you to celebrate sustainability this week.

Whether you’re looking for a jog, sampling food, donating electronics or a drink, here’s the best events this week.

Week Events for April 20th – 23rd, 2015:

  • Meatless Monday Fun Run: Join the Humane League for a fun run starting & ending at Blackbird Pizzeria. Obviously, there will be opportunity to meet up and catch up over pizza after a run. Monday, April 20th at 6:30 PM, 507 S 6th St, Philadelphia, PA. Meetup.
  • Earth Day PTW Scavenger Hunt: Join us and MilkCrate as you rush around the city, snapping pics of clues with the hashtag #PTWHunt. Wednesday, April 22, Happy hour 6-8, W/N W/N coffeebar, Register here.
  • Electronics Donations: Nonprofit Technology Resources will host several events during Philly Tech Week with donation opportunities. Computer stripping/e-cycling event on Tuesday, April 21. On April 22nd, NTR will host a computer refurbishing workshop. Various days, Event details website.
  • One Man’s Trash – Exhibit opening: Trash is what pushed Bradley Maule from Philadelphia, and ironically, trash has kept him busy now that he’s returned. Photographer, journalist and environmentalist, Bradley is on a personal mission to tell Philadelphia park-goers to clean up after themselves, for god’s sakes! His artistic vision of a year’s worth of ‘found objects’ (okay garbage) he collected in Wissahickon Valley Park will be unveiled at the Fairmount Water Works on April 22. April 22 – June 26th, Fairmount Water Works.  Event Website.
  • Net Impact Fair Foods Fair:  Temple University’s Net Impact chapter will be hosting their 2nd annual Fair Foods Fair! The Fair Foods Fair will feature up to 20 restaurants, urban farms, food co-ops, food trucks and more to educate the community on the importance of farm-fresh sustainable food in the Philadelphia community! There will be delicious samples and awesome raffle prizes. Make sure to register for FREE beforehand, or registration is $1 at the door. All proceeds will be donated to Temple Community Garden! Wednesday, April 22nd from 3-7 pm, University Fox School of Business-Undergraduate Commons. Facebook RSVP.
  • Spoke Magazine Happy Hour: Ever want to get together with your two-wheeled brethren over drinks and conversation? By golly, so do we. Mingle with fellow cyclists and meet the writers, editors, photographers and artists who contribute to SPOKE. W/N W/N Coffee Bar; 931 Spring Garden St; Thursday, April 23 from 6-8 PM; Suggested donation $10.
