Happy Friday!

Don’t get us wrong: we love men ’round here, but are still totally amped from yesterday’s Pennsylvania’s Conference For Women. From Robin Roberts reminding us we’ve all got something, to Candy Chang’s transformation of neighborhoods simply with chalk & side of a building, to Diane Keaton’s questioning of Billy Pitt, that poet on top of City Hall (and holllerrr – our logo figure) – it was an inspiring day to be in Philadelphia and a woman.

How to continue to celebrate this energy? Let’s move on to the weekend. As usual, Philly don’t disappoint.

Philly weekend events October 17 – 19th:

• Household Hazardous Waste  Collection Event: Have gross and dangerous crap around your house?  Bring your old and unused cans of oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, flammable liquids such as old gasoline and kerosene, used oil, antifreeze and brake fluid on Saturday to the Streets Dept Sanitation Facility. Saturday October 18 from 9 AM –  3 PM, 3033 South 63rd Street – Northwest of Passyunk, Additional Deets.
• Abington Friends School Tree Planting: Want to help a local school plant trees? That’s so green of you. Help plan over 300 trees and shrubs to restore over 25000 square feet of “stream buffer” and feel fuzzy inside. Saturday, October 18, 2014, 9:00 am -1:00, Abington Friends School, 575 Washington Lane, Jenkintown, PA 19046.
• Reading Terminal Annual Harvest Festival: Join the 14th annual event with locally made, season foods like spinach pie, butternut squash soup, pumpkin fondue & more during this outdoor street fest. Reading Terminal Market, 12^th and Filbert Streets, Philadelphia, PA, Saturday, October 18th, 10 AM – 4 PM.
• Unlocking the Mysteries of Mushrooms: You guys need ‘shrooms? Discover the difference between fungi, mankind and what they mean to ecosystems around us. I mean, one time… back in college… Just figure out the nature part now. Saturday, October 18, 2 – 4 pm, Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, 8480 Hagy’s Mill Road,Philadelphia, PA 19128United States, $35.
