The holiday weekend is almost here and so close we can taste the ice cream and fireworks.

Still looking for things to do? From outdoor concerts, historic celebrations, kayak tours to farmers markets, there are plenty of events happening this weekend!

Local Events for Philly’s 4th of July Weekend:

POPS on Independence: Join the PhillyPOPS on Independence Mall for their annual all-American themed outdoor concert. The free event features a performance of the 1812 Overture as well as a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson. Thursday July 3, 8 PM, 6^th & Chestnut St., free.

• 10^th Annual Germantown Independence Day Celebration: Historic Germantown is hosting a daylong 4^th of July celebration at six historic sites including Stenton, Hood Cemetery, Concord School & Upper Burial Ground, Johnson House, Cliveden, and Wyck. There will be free outdoor tours, live music, enactors, a farmer’s market , and much more at this annual event. Friday July 4, 11:30 AM – 4 PM, 5501 Germantown Ave., free
• Greensgrow Holiday Farm Stand: While Greensgrow won’t be having its CSA pickup during the holiday week, it will have special holiday hours at their farmstand on July 3^rd and 5^th.Corn and blueberries are in this week, just in time for your 4^th of July BBQ’s. July 3^rd 3 – 6 PM and July 5^th 10 AM – 1 PM, 2051 E. Cumberland St.
• Longwood Gardens’ Fireworks and Fountains: Come out to visit the beautiful gardens and watch the annual display decorating the sky to a patriotic tune. Tickets to this event include the fireworks display as well as full access to the gardens. Friday July 4, 9:15 PM, 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square. $31 members and $38 non-members.Tickets.
• Schuylkill Banks Kayak Tours: Come out for a professionally guided kayak tour of the Schuylkill River. The tours include a half hour of instruction and will require moderate exertion so be ready for some outdoor exercise! Sunday July 6, 12 – 4 PM, Walnut St. Dock, $40. Linh studies Architectural Technologies at Philadelphia University and spent a previous semester studying Sustainability in Copenhagen, Denmark. These experiences home and abroad inspired her to take a closer look at her personal impact on the environment and ways to lessen it.
