Yay! You made it to Friday!

How was your week? Did you take a walking tour of Philly parks, join the Bicycle Coalition’s coffee club, or even have a green drink?

If you still need to make plans for this weekend, look no further. We have a plethora of green events happening around the city.

Whether you’re looking to forage for mushrooms, visit farmers’ markets, tour farms, or ride your bike under the full moon, we have rounded up the best events for you!

Here’s what’s on our calendar from August 8th – 10th:

  • Clay Camp: The Clay Studio’s hosting creative classes for children ages 6-12 on Friday, August 8th, from 9am-4pm. Campers will expand their imaginations and explore the exciting world of clay through a wide range of techniques, including sculpture, claymation, or throwing. Participants for the full day, week long event need to register and pay $20 per week. 137-139 North Second Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
  • Seedlings Parent & Child Outdoor Program: Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is hosting parent-and-child activities to promote nature and environmental awareness on Friday, August 8th. Children, ages 2-5, will join in nature-inspired activities and get a sneak peak of the Nature Preschool from 2-3pm. Adult participation and pre-registration is required. Tickets cost $6 for members and $8 for non-members. 8480 Hagy’s Mill Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19128
  • Bartram’s Garden Volunteer Days: On Saturday, August 9th, volunteer to work alongside Bartram gardeners to maintain and beautify the garden’s urban landscape from 9am-12pm. To register, complete this form. 54th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19143
  • Wild Mushroom Forage: Bucktoe Creek Preserve is hosting an open event for mushroom enthusiasts on Saturday, August 9th. Participants will hike through the meadows and woodlands in search of wild mushrooms from 9am-1:30pm. Admission is $35, which includes a mushroom cooking demonstration and 10% of all collected mushrooms. 32 Sharp Road, Avondale, PA 19311
  • Headhouse Farmers’ Market: More than 40 vendors will be attending the Headhouse Farmers’ Market on Saturday, August 9th, from 10am-2pm. Along with the abundance of fresh produce, you can also find a great selection of locally prepared foods and artisan goods such as soups, ice cream, flowers, herbs, honey, goat cheese, meat, milk, coffee, and wine.   • Saturdays @SCEE: The Schuylkill Center is once again hosting naturalist-led story time and old-fashioned games on Saturday, August 9th. Children will be taken on a hike, catch tadpoles, watch butterflies, and explore the woods from 10:30–11:30am. Admission is free. 8480 Hagy’s Mill Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19128
  • Local Foods Week – Farm Tour: Centre Country is hosting their 9th Annual Farm Tour on Saturday, August 9th. Participants can visit the farm where their food is grown, have a tour, eat samples, feed animals, and buy goods directly from the farm they visit. Tours run from 12:30-5pm. Farm Tour Pass is $15 per car or $10 per bike. (If you don’t buy an all-inclusive pass, farms will ask for $5 per farm.) Centre County, PA; various locations.
  • “Wildman” Steve Brill Walk: Steve Brill is leading one of his world-famous foraging tours in the Pennypack Ecological Preserve on Sunday, August 10th, from 1-3pm. Participants will forage for wild mushrooms, hen-of-the-woods, honey mushrooms, brick tops, blewits, shaggy manes, pear-shaped puffballs, beefsteak mushrooms, and giant puffballs.   • Full Moon Ride: Cyclists are invited to participate in one of Philadelphia’s many Full Moon Bike Rides. On Sunday, August 10th, the group will meet at the bottom of the steps in front the Art Museum at 9:15pm before departing promptly at 9:45pm. The route is approximately 10 miles (check for route and weather updates). Helmets and lights are encouraged but not required. 26th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130
