We’ve made it to the weekend! Not sure what to do?

Whether you want to relax with a yoga session, enjoy local Jazz music, and lend a hand outside, there are plenty of events to add to your plans!

We’ve rounded up a few of Philly’s best weekend events for you:

  • G-Town Jazz on the Ave: Bebashi Transition to Hope is teaming up with Clivenden to host Health Awareness Jazz Fundraiser. The concert and festival will feature live jazz music, local food, and arts and crafts vendors. Bring your own chairs or blankets to relax to the sounds of local jazz artists. Saturday July 12th, 5 – 8 PM.
  • Summer Yoga Retreat: Sophie Simpson, founder of Blue Banyan, will be leading a special outdoor retreat. The three-hour outdoor session will guide participants through Asana, Pranayama, and mental quieting. Saturday July 12th, 9 AM – 12 PM, $40.  
  • Vines of SCEE with WE THE WEEDS: WE THE WEEDS botanical arts team will be hosting a hands-on vine identification and harvesting workshop. The event will highlight the uses and qualities of local and invasive vines found at the Schuylkill Center. Please remember to wear sturdy shoes and protective clothing. Saturday July 12th, 10 AM – 12 PM, Free.
  • Second Saturday at Awbury Arboretum: Join the Awbury Arboretum for a day of outdoor field work. Volunteers will take part in a variety of projects during the service-learning experience. Stay after and visit Historic Germantown! Saturday July 12th, 9 AM – 1 PM, 1 Awbury Road, Free, Register.
  • Second Saturdays Volunteer at Bartram’s Garden: Bartram’s Garden is hosting a volunteer day to help in the gardens. Bring your own gloves and any level of gardening experience! Saturday July 12th, 9 AM – 12 PM, 5400 Lindbergh Boulevard, Register via email: tgreenberg@bartramsgarden.org.
  • Invisible River 2014: Come celebrate the Schuylkill River this weekend with a public art and boating event. Visitors will travel in a flotilla of boats and experience dance, music, and sculpture installations along the river. Saturday July 12th and Sunday July 13th, 6:15 – 9 PM, 1233 MLK Jr. Drive, $25, Tickets.

Linh studies Architectural Technologies at Philadelphia University and spent a previous semester studying Sustainability in Copenhagen, Denmark. These experiences home and abroad inspired her to take a closer look at her personal impact on the environment and ways to lessen it.
