Bike Sharing is Finally in Philly (Kinda Sorta!) with Dranoff Properties

Dranoff Properties launches Bike Sharing Program in PhiladelphiaBike sharing is FINALLY in Philly… kinda sorta maybe.

Our only Philly-based bike sharing company, Cityryde and its founders, left town due to our lack of bike sharing. Dranoff Properties (owner of 5 apartment buildings), has picked up the slack and set up a bike share for its residents. Each location will have 3 bikes each, which residents can use for 4 hours at a time. These bikes are pimped out with bike helmets, bike maps, bike locks, a basket & bell. This isn’t the first green stamp Dranoff Properties has made: 777 South Broad also received an LEED Silver certification& electric car charging station at their newest location.

Unfortunately the bike sharing will be limited to residents (for now), but one small step for small businesses, one large step for Philadelphia kind…

Dranoff Properties celebrated their premiere bike share launch yesterday with quite the event: a Phile-brity bike parade, included PHS President Drew Becher, City Council members Kenyatta Johnson & Mark Squilla, Top Chef Kevin Sbraga, Eagles Cheerleaders & Shila Nathan of 96.5’s Chio in the Morning among many more.. Carl Dranoff (President, Dranoff Proprieties), Bike Coalition President Alex Doty & Chief, Staff of Mayor’s Office of Transportation & Utilities Andrew Stober all spoke at the event. At the end of the parade, Dranoff Properties raffled off a free bike.

Philebrity all star bike sharing parade to kick off Dranoff green initiative Lucky residents of the following buildings can participate:

  • The Victor (Camden Waterfront)
  • Venice Lofts (Manayunk)
  • 777 South Broad (Avenue of the Arts)
  • Locust on the Park (Fitler Square)
  • The Left Bank (University City)

As Dranoff Properties said, “All of our properties are located in urban areas, making the bike share program the perfect amenity to offer our residents so they can easily get to where they need to go in a fun, healthy and efficient way.”
