Philly Celebrates America Recycles Day 11/15

Did you know our current recycling rate is 34% annually? Although it saves greenhouse gases of 35 million cars on the road (or growing 5 billion trees over 10 yrs), we can still increase this stat.

Tomorrow (November 15th) is America Recycles Day, a day to promote, educate & motivate recycling in the USA.

Here’s a few ways Philly & you can celebrate this joyous holiday celebration:

• Pissed you can’t recycle stryofoam as it’s eating away the ozone layer?  The City of Phila/Streets Department are launching a foam #6 recycling program! Philly residents can drop off styrofoam including cups, plates, egg cartons & more at the Northeast Drop Off Center (State Road & Asburner St). From 3-4 PM tomorrow, the center will feature visuals of stryofoam to educate.
• Keep America Beautiful&  the Eagles are hosting student participants in the Recycle-Bowl at Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow from 11:15-12:30 PM. Nearly 100 Phila students recycled 1000+ LBs of paper, and will be getting a tour of the Linc, time with Eagles players, cheerleaders & Swoop, and have more recycling activities awaiting.
• Also at the Linc, Keep America Beautiful is launching “A Bag’s Life“, an initiative to encourage Philadelphians to recycle bags & wraps. You can find a local spot to recycle bags on the Bags Life Recycle Locator.
• Check Earth911 to find local recycling locations & keys to recycling the odds & ends in your house
