Can You Recycle Egg Cartons in Philadelphia

Whether you buy your eggs from the farmer’s market or grocery store, you might want to think carefully about the packaging.

Can you recycle egg cartons in Philadelphia?

Yes, cardboard egg cartons are recyclable in Philadelphia.

However, the styrofoam egg cartons are NOT recyclable and should not go into your single-stream recycling bin. They need to go into the trash.

If you belong to a CSA or frequent Farmers Markets, ask your local producers if they accept used egg cartons. Many will take back your egg cartons (or those green fruit/veggie cartons) to reuse!

If you compost, many local providers accept the carton egg cartons.
