DOES THE CITY PICK UP YARD WASTE?

Philadelphia tends to run citywide yard waste collections in the Fall. However, it’s not exactly easy peasy: Residents must place yard wastes in brown (biodegradable, not plastic bags) and either have to take it to a corner nearby. The Streets Department had a special ‘Earth Month’ two-Saturday yard pickup in April which obviously does you no good now. You can always check the Streets Department website JIC.

However, not ALL hope is lost. There’s the yard pickup in April, which is open year-round and accepts leaves, grass clippings and more. They tend to deal with high quantities, so I’d suggest calling before you head over.
