Happy day after Mardi Gras!

We may be further away from the French Quarter celebrations, but end up with a few extra beads regardless. After a couple of trips to N’awlins, I’ve struggled where to put a few beads for a second life. (Note: A couple were used in the Big Green Party props).

So what should you do with your Mardi Gras remnants?

Where to Recycle Mardi Gras Beads

• Reuse. Best case scenario locally is to find an organization that wants to reuse the mardi gras beads.
• Recycle. The Lafayette LARC, located in Louisiana, accepts mardi gras beads donations. They provide jobs to people with developmental disabilities, cleaning and reselling the beads. Only catch: You’d have to mail them to 303 New Hope Road, Lafayette LA 70506.
