I’m so proud of Moore College of Art & Design’s continued sustainability initiatives! One of their most recent endeavors was to plant a herb garden to produce fresh ingredients that will be built into their SAGE Dining Services menu.

Those students at Moore College of Art & Design continue their eco-friendly strides through artwork & fashions. Fashion design graduate Auralis Herrero was the 1st Latina designer to present a collection at New York Fashion Week’s eco-friendly runway, the GreenShows. (Not to be outdone by the big apple – Luckily Philadelphia kicked off their Fashion Week last week with Earthly Beauties.)
Herrero was 1 of 10 eco-friendly designers that showed her collection of sustainable fashions event at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea committed to ethically sound, sustainable fashion. Her collection introduced an “Urban Tropical” look, inspired by Salsa musicians and artists from her roots in Puerto Rico. Moore College of Art & Design continues to set a green example in the college community. Furthering their commitment to be more eco-friendly, they’ve replaced the majority of paper products in student dining halls with plates made from tempered glass, reusable plastic cups and silverware. (The glassware is more environmentally friendly than chinaware because it is more durable and can be recycled if damaged or flawed in the production process.)
This recyclable dishware movement came about in part from an Environmental Task Force at the College comprised of students, staff and faculty, promoting responsible eco-friendly practices at the College through educational programs and sustainable building initiatives.
