As you loyal Green Philly Blog readers may know, Beth & I are avid Phillies fans. (Case in point: see insert below as we celebrated World Series Victory in ’08.) While the Phillies are lovable for so many reasons (my fav Chooch?!?), their green ambitions are certainly noteworthy between their Red Goes Green campaign, Pitcher Ryan Madson (ahh) greening his home and awards for being most veggie-friendly by PETA.
Not to be done by the Linc’s ambition to be the Greenest Stadium in the World, the Phils have stepped up their eco-game yet again.
In honor of the Phillies race for the pennant, we wanted to share some pics of the fabulous Ryan Howard’s contributions from The Ryan Howard Family Foundation. They’re dedicated funding & support to the Hunting Park revitalization effort.
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation & Fairmount Park Conservancy recently broke ground on the Hunting Park baseball field to kick off the field’s $500,000 renovation project. City of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Citizens Bank President and CEO Daniel Fitzpatrick and The Phillies’ Ryan Howard joined Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy in the ceremonial groundbreaking.

The Madson’s eco improvements include:

Incredible numbers, Philly! But how can you keep it up for this Earth week (and always…)
Here’s some suggestions:

Another win for the Phillies boys and girls: Citizens Bank Park is #1 on PETA’s Top 10 vegetarian friendly ball parks. Our home stadium was the first ballpark to offer veggie fare (and recently added more choices) on TOP of being one of the most green stadiums with their Red Goes Green Campaign.
The Phillies stadium serves tasty veggie options like:
