Now that the polar vortex is over, we can enjoy the fruits of spring... and more importantly, the best locavore event in town. Philly Farm & Food Fest 2014 The Philly Farm & Food Fest returns on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Philly Farm & Food Fest is coming to the Convention Center today with hundreds of local farmers, food vendors & artisans. Although thousands in our region will gain new insights and discover new tastes, they're not the only ones who will benefit. Marilyn Anthony is Eastern Regional Director for the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), a member-based nonprofit organization. We talked to Marilyn about how Philly Farm & Food Fest benefits PASA, Fair Food and the local community of local growers, producers & consumers: (Find out more in my Examiner article.)

Don't frown urbanites. Even if you don't have grass in your city property limits, you can still grow your own food this season. I started planting seeds for the first harvest of my container garden last week.  Obviously I didn't inherit my dad's gardening skills regardless of my DNA, so it has taken some experimentation over the past 2 years.  (I was an Urban Dummy just a short time ago!)  Here's the basics if you're considering to plant this season.
