4 Ways to Preserve your Herbs: Friday Quickie

preserve-herbsGrowing your own herbs & plants means you get SO many fresh veggies. You almost forget about those dreaded winter nights where you can’t find anything growing besides mold in your leftover takeout.

So rather than let your plants over-blossom, why not preserve your herbs now?

Here are 4 ways to Preserve Your Herbs for Colder Times:

  1. Place your herbs in ice-cube trays with olive oil & freeze. Perfect, easy single-serve start for cooking! Thanks to Be Well Philly for that tip!
  2. Pesto! I love basil (I have 3-5 plants, currently…) and that plant grows fast. With a food processor, toss with olive oil, garlic & a little cheese. Perfection. Give a jar to a friend and freeze another for the winter.
  3. Pesto Ice Cubes. Same idea as the herbs (which I’ve done as well!)
  4. Dry herbs upside down and use in cooking. Spice Rack. In. Your. Kitchen.

Readers, any tricks to preserve herbs?
