    Why Support Green Philly?

We reached a big milestone this year – it’s been 10 years since we began! We’re excited about the next stage of our journey, partnering with readers like you so that we can continue growing.

I can vividly remember the day when my journey with Green Philly began. I was heading to a company softball game, when my colleague revealed that the company’s recycling was being thrown in the trash. I was outraged, all of those hours spent sorting my office paper and trash were suddenly worthless! I knew we could do better. After brainstorming with my colleague Beth, we realized we could make sustainability accessible and fun – and Green Philly was born!

Ten years later, a lot has changed. Today, our stories and events now help over 30,000 monthly readers to live more sustainably as Philadelphia’s largest and most trusted sustainability site. Our events provide education, networking and job opportunities – such as SustainPHL, the city’s annual sustainability awards and celebration. Our weekly newsletter also provides tips and advice to thousands of subscribers, who often email us with questions on topics like recycling and ethical products.

Green Philly is a woman-owned business, and our organization has been sustained without crowdfunding or business loans. Instead, we’ve relied on bootstrapping and a bit of gumption, generating modest revenue from things such as events and sponsorships.

We need your help, so that we can create more editorial content, host additional networking opportunities and pay a living wage to another part-time employee. If you value our work, please help us keep this community growing by becoming a supporter.
