Can you believe 2018 is almost over? 

Here’s a recap of what we did this year.

January

Thanks to the Social Innovations Journal for recognizing Green Philly as the 1st Place in 2018 Corporate Innovator award! 

February 

We hosted our inaugural roundtable, Innovative Leaders Driving a Green & Equal Philly at Saxbys HQ. 

March

We hosted our Women in Sustainability panel featuring Maitreyi Roy of Bartram’s Garden, Amy Kate Failing of Community Energy and Sustainable Business Network, and Jill Fink of Food Moxie. One of our takeaways was Finding that “Secret Society.”, which Amy Kate and a few other ladies began as Women for a more sustainable Philadelphia. 

April

Earth Day, Environmental film festival and spring. 

Thanks to Rad Girls for nominating me as a 2018 Storyteller of the year! 

We had fun speaking on a Philly Tech Week Panel and to a group at St. Joe’s university (below). 

June

We hosted a little party in June to celebrate 10 years of Green Philly. Can you believe we’ve been on the internet for a decade? 

July

We hosted a Green Economy Tour and Roundtable thanks to a CUSP mini-grant, exploring the Hestonville Rain Garden and Overbrook Nature Center and concluding with a panel featuring Jerome Shabazz, Dan Schupsky & Joanne Douglas. Read the takeaways here.

August

Our fav time of the year is SustainPHL, of course! With palpable energy from Philly’s brightest and biggest changemakers, it’s earned its reputation as the city’s Green Oscars. The 2018 award recipients continue to make strides. 

September

Post-SustainPHL, I took a quick respite in Hawaii. Read our sustainable travel tips AKA excuses to share these gorgeous photos. 

October

On October 3rd, we launched City Rising, a podcast about how cities are working on climate solutions.

November

Democrats won back the house in the Midterm election, we #optoutside-ed, and talked trash with Nic Esposito. 

Personally, I completed the Environmental Leadership Program. (Complimentary YURT photo above). With over 1200 fellows and counting, let me know if you’re curious about this program.  

Another November weekend, I got together with journalists from around the world to build a journalism prototype with my group, Impact Report Card. We’re continuing to work on our project in a different form, so stay tuned.

December

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been quietly prepping for 2019 to make Green Philly even better.

We launched the Green Philly Insider program. In addition to supporting our mission, our members will receive special benefits as our way of saying thanks.
