Ride DNC down Broad Street with Fellow Bikers on 7/27

Alexandria Schneider & Maria Serrahima are back to planning another HUGE ride to unite the Philadelphia biking community!

Their Ride DNC (Democratic National Convention, obviously) came to fruition after their wildly successful Poperide (AKA when the Pontiff came to town). When they noticed all the buzz around the upcoming DNC, they wanted to unite all political parties with two-wheels.

“We wanted to create something positively, uniquely Philadelphian”

Schneider noticed that the DNC has provoked a lot of opinions, and a lot of people feel as though they’re not being heard in the political process. So why not provide a public forum to peacefully express those opinions.

“We don’t want to be angry, rude, or upset. We want to provide people a safe place to come together to bike down broad street, and get involved in the process. Also, we want to provide a forum for people to express their opinions,” explained Schneider.

Don’t have a bike? It doesn’t matter what you ride down Broad Street – as long as it’s human powered.

The bike ride will begin on Wednesday, July 27 at 7:30 PM on Broad and Cheltenham Avenue (Elkins Park, PA). After covering a lot of miles, the plan is to end up in FDR Park for a post-ride party. They plan on providing tunes with a sound system – on a bike, of course.

You can RSVP for the ride on Facebook here. Note that the streets will NOT be closed to traffic, so make sure to wear your helmet.

If either of these names sound familiar, it’s because the pair loves organizing rides. Serrahima plans the infamous Annual Naked Bike Ride (Save the date for September 10th) and Schneider also has the Safe Bike Ride (featuring the Bicycle Coalition’s Randy LoBasso and bike snarker Stu Bykofsky) under her belt.
